Day 02 - Pão de Açúcar & City tour

PÃO DE AÇÚCAR & CITY
We will go to the center of the city by the beautifull beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. Arrive at Estacio de Sa's monument, who founded the city in 1565. We will continue our way along the Guanabara's Bay where we will able to see the memorial of those killed in World War II,Modern Art Museum and Gloria Church. Passing the Santos Dumont Airport, continue to Plaza 15 de Noviembre, where the history of Rio de Janeiro started, on our way we will see the charming Isla Fiscal Castle, Paso Imperial, the Church of the Candelaria and San Bento Monastery, located on top of a hill, also pass through the ultra-modern Cathedral of Rio and the Teatro Municipal. In Cinelandia are located the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and the National Library. And finally we will go to Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf), the sentinel rock guarding the entrance to Guanabara Bay and together with the Corcovado Hill is one of the most iconic natural symbol of Rio in the Playa Vermelha, a yellow sand beach, we will check to Pão de Açúcar, two cable car will take us to 369 m above Rio de Janeiro, in the first one we ascend the hill of Urca and the second one will take us to the top of the hill. From there we will see the "Marvelous City".

Full day Tropical Islands with lunch Departure from the hotel, driving southeast through Barra da Tijuca or through Rio-Sao Paulo highway to the small fishing village of Itacuruca, 90 km from Rio. On arrival board "saveiros", a traditional type of Brazilian schooner, for an unforgettable voyage around the regions many unspoiled islands. Itacuruça is already part of Angra dos Reis Bay with its about 365 islands – one for each day of the year! After about half hour cruise, a stop is made close to one of the islands for swimming from the boat. Then we continue to stop in one of the islands where there is a restaurant for our lunch. Everybody goes ashore. Time at leisure for lunch, rest and sun bathing. In the middle of afternoon, cruise back to Itacuruça and return transfer to Rio. Drinks are not included during lunch. Do not forget to take with you bathing suite and sunscreen. |
